The 58th Hokkai Soran Festival Returns to Yoichi with 4,000 Fireworks! | August 9, 2026

Experience one of Hokkaido’s most beloved summer festivals in the birthplace of the famous Soran Bushi folk song.
The 58th Hokkai Soran Festival will be held at Yoichi Port on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Throughout the afternoon and evening, visitors can enjoy authentic Soran Bushi performances, traditional dance, live taiko drumming, and a variety of food stalls featuring local specialties from Yoichi.
The highlight of the evening is a fireworks display of approximately 4,000 fireworks, launching over the harbor from around 7:15 PM. Watching fireworks by the sea while enjoying the festive atmosphere makes this one of the best summer events in the region.
The festival is also accompanied by several family-friendly events around town, including:
- Soran Waku Waku Festival at the Roadside Station
- Free admission to the Yoichi Space Museum
- Free admission to Yoichi’s museums and historic cultural sites
- A rare opportunity to tour a Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force missile boat (4:00–6:00 PM)
Whether you’re already staying in Yoichi or exploring western Hokkaido this summer, this festival offers a wonderful opportunity to experience local culture, traditional music, delicious food, and a spectacular fireworks show—all in one day.
